End of Semester Activities

1. November 3 there is no class (you can use this time to start working on your presentation. November 5: Mid-term Exam (one hour approximately).

2. Teaching English to Children

Guidelines:

a. The Presentation includes an explanation of the contents (you can use a PPT or other supporting material) of the chapter assigned to each group as well as a Micro-teaching class based on the concepts of the chapter and a specific skill (e.g. Speaking).

b.  Each group has a on complete day to achieve the tasks mentioned above: the presentation of the contents and the micro-teaching (from 1:00 to 1:50PM the contents, from 1:50 to 2:40PM. Micro-teaching. The micro-teaching is 30 minutes for the class and 20 minutes for feedback).

c. Each group must divide the contents and the micro-teachings equally among the members of the group.

d. Attendance and Participation is MANDATORY TO ALL STUDENTS during the development of these activities. Absence will be treated according to UES Law.

e. Punctually is MANDATORY. The activities will start at 1:00PM exactly. All students must be inside by the time the activity begins. The door will be closed and NO ONE will be allowed to come in once the activity begins. If you come late, PLEASE DO NOT KNOCK ON THE DOOR. You have to wait until the second part of the activity begins: 1:50PM, and then you will be allowed to come in. Please make all necessary arrangements to be early, specially on the day of your presentation. A percentage of your grade on this activity is allocated to attendance and punctuality.

f. Proper attire on your presentation day is mandatory, it is part of the grade.

g. Each group has to hand in a hard copy of the presentation of the contents to every student in the class.

h. Each group has to prepare a "Lesson Plan" based on the micro-teaching and a copy must be handed in to the teacher before the day of your presentation.

i. I will see groups who need help with the micro-teaching ONLY through appointments. I have other activities in the department such as: meetings, advisory to students who are doing their undergraduate work (TESIS, I have 3 different groups), students who are doing their Community Outreach Program (Servicio Social), teach class, give other advisory to students from the different groups. So I am asking you please to make the appointment before coming to my office, otherwise I might not be there. My schedule begins at 5:30AM to 2:00pm, that is more than 8 hours a day. Please make your appointment  withing that frame of time. You can either come and make the appointment or you can send me an e-mail to do so. I will post a calendar to place the appointments as demanded.

J. Any special arrangements based on personal problems or inconveniences on the part of the students, please come to my office to discuss a possible solution.

k. If your name does not appear on any of the groups, please come to my office to solve this.

l. Any comments or questions you can come to my office or send me an e-mail.

m. Links to "lesson plan rubric and presentation rubric" will be uploaded next week (you will be graded based on these formats).

n. If you need equipment such as a projector, Laptop or CD player, you have to reserve it in advance. Please come to my office to do the reservation and to pick it up at least 10 minutes before you presentation.
